Outing club - FAQ

Q: Are the hikes restricted to speakers of Hungarian?
A: All are welcome. Almost always, there are hikers in the group who don't speak Hungarian. However, it may happen that there is only one non-Hungarian and he or she may feel left out.

Q: I don't have a car - can I still come on the hike?
A: Yes, we are organizing car pools. This is why you need to sign up for the hikes. This way we can arrange for people from the same neighborhood to ride together or can decide on a train stop to meet.

Q: How difficult are the hikes?
A: Difficult is relative. We don't go very fast but the paths are rough and steep. The hikes in the Blue Hills (spring and fall) are only 4-5 hours long. However, the White Mountain hikes in the summer may last for 9 hours plus the 3-hour car ride to get there.

Q: Will I need special equipment?
A: It is important to wear good shoes, preferably hiking boots. The rest depends upon the season and the destination: rain coat, sun screen, bug spray ... it will be announced beforehand. Food and water are always necessary.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Attendance is free.

Q: How many hikers are expected?
A: This is very varied: between 2 and 20

Q: Rain is predicted ... are we still going?
A: If 40% rain or above is predicted, we'll either cancel the trip or find an other hike with better chances.
